Callao Peruvian Cuisine

What a delight to discover this amazing Peruvian restaurant! I have tried the overpriced Peruvian restaurants in SF city, and the truly outstanding ones in LA & Florida, Callao’s food is comparable with really high quality. I would even say this is the best Peruvian place in the area. Yes, feeling super lucky there’s a great Peruvian place close to home. We order the octopus, the Peruvian version of seafood paella & the stir-fried beef, all 100% well seasoned and delicious! Even the mocktails tastes super good. Oh and the service team is awesome, very friendly and attentive, they are living examples of: they do deserve their tips! We got a dog with us, and sat outdoor in the patio, normally this means longer wait for anything & having a tough time asking for help, but with Callao’s team, they are always checking in ( in a very comfortable way not annoying way) , always attentive, super quick with everything ( even getting the heater on, bringing water for the dog, getting the leftovers in the box for us...) we are truly grateful to have a lovely night with them. Easy to find parking, with ample spaces for free street parking and downtown parking lots. Highly and genuinely recommend it!

What an absolutely fabulous night we had! Callao is a welcome addition to DT Los Altos. The decor feels like you've been transported to a square in Peru, the food is delicious (the mixed ceviche is one of the best I've ever had, filled with flavors and textures) and the pisco sour was strong, not too sweet (I asked for a splash of syrup and it was perfect). They have a private room which is just beautiful but the back area is semi private and was perfect for our spirited birthday party of 5 ladies. The highlight though was the service. Diego couldn't have been more wonderful and welcoming. Please ask for him and tell him Donna says hello!! Go support this local gem!

Authentic cuisine, great drinks and attentive service. Tried theirPisco sour and Callao pilsner . Ceviche and Yucca are good appetizers. Chicken fried rice definitely had some Asian influence with hints of soy sauce.

Love that we have this new restaurant in our neighborhood! Great flavors and service. The restaurant is new, it’s located in an older building preserving the character and charm of the historic location. Warm and friendly service. Highly recommend the chicken fried rice and the lamb-beans dish (don’t remember what it was called).

Amazing time and absolutely fantastic pick. Peruvian food tasted very authentic. We got the ceviche carretillero, yuca a la huancaina and tallarines verdes. The service is friendly and make you feel welcome.Great music. We went there for lunch and they let us order an item from the dinner menu. Will definitely be back!

This was the first time my family and I tried Peruvian food, and we were truly delighted. Not only were the dishes and drinks exquisite, but the service was also excellent. Paola is very friendly. She told us all about the dishes we tried and always had a lovely smile. We will definitely be back soon
